Taxon Summary:

Heterotheca shevockii, commonly known as Shevock's golden-aster, is a perennial herb in the Asteraceae that is found only in California. It occurs within Chaparral, and Cismontane woodland, growing at elevations from 230 to 900 meters. Heterotheca shevockii is ranked 1B.3, Plants Rare, Threatened or Endangered in California and Elsewhere; Not very threatened in California.

Notes:
Known only from the lower Kern River Cyn. in the Greenhorn Mtns. Possibly threatened by road maintenance and recreational activities. A synonym of H. villosa var. shevockii in The Jepson Manual (1993). See Phytologia 73(6):453 (1992) for original description, and University of Waterloo Biology Series 37:148 (1996) for revised nomenclature.
