Species Description:
Arctostaphylos hispidula, commonly known as Howell's manzanita, is a perennial evergreen shrub in the Ericaceae that is found in California and elsewhere. It occurs within Chaparral (sandstone, and serpentinite), growing at elevations from 120 to 1250 meters. Arctostaphylos hispidula is ranked 4.2, Plants of Limited Distribution, A Watch List; Moderately threatened in California.
