Threats:
Threatened by grazing, agriculture, road maintenance, and habitat loss. 
Taxonomy:
First year growth nearly indistinguishable from H. annuus; mostly distinguished from H. annuus in having woody stems, year-round blooming period, and dark purplish buds and phyllaries.
