Species Description:
Abies lasiocarpa var. lasiocarpa, commonly known as subalpine fir, is a perennial evergreen tree in the Pinaceae that is found in California and elsewhere. It occurs within Meadows and seeps, Subalpine coniferous forest, and Upper montane coniferous forest, growing at elevations from 945 to 2225 meters. Abies lasiocarpa var. lasiocarpa is ranked 2B.3, Plants Rare, Threatened, or Endangered in California, But More Common Elsewhere; Not very threatened in California.
