It occurs within Cismontane woodland, Lower montane coniferous forest, Pinyon and juniper woodland, and Upper montane coniferous forest, growing at elevations from 715 to 1800 meters. Lewinskya holzingeri is ranked 1B.3, Plants Rare, Threatened or Endangered in California and Elsewhere; Not very threatened in California.
