Taxon Summary:

Stylocline sonorensis, commonly known as mesquite neststraw, is a annual herb in the Asteraceae that is found in California and elsewhere. It occurs within Sonoran desert scrub, growing at elevations from 425 to 425 meters. Stylocline sonorensis is ranked 2A, Plants Presumed Extirpated in California, But More Common Elsewhere.

Notes:
Known in CA from only a single collection (1930) at Hayfields Dry Lake. Possibly extirpated after 1930 by development. See Contributions from the Dudley Herbarium 4:26 (1950) for original description, and Madroño 35(3):279 (1988) for the CA record.
