Species Description:

Hartmaniella sierrae, commonly known as Sierra starwort, is a perennial rhizomatous herb in the Caryophyllaceae that is found only in California. It occurs within Chaparral, Cismontane woodland, Lower montane coniferous forest, and Upper montane coniferous forest, growing at elevations from 1225 to 2194 meters. Hartmaniella sierrae is ranked 4.2, Plants of Limited Distribution, A Watch List; Moderately threatened in California.
