Species Description:

Chaenactis carphoclinia var. peirsonii, commonly known as Peirson's pincushion, is a annual herb in the Asteraceae that is found only in California. It occurs within Sonoran desert scrub, growing at elevations from 3 to 500 meters. Chaenactis carphoclinia var. peirsonii is ranked 1B.3, Plants Rare, Threatened or Endangered in California and Elsewhere; Not very threatened in California.
