Species Description:

Carex livida, commonly known as livid sedge, is a perennial rhizomatous herb in the Cyperaceae that is found in California and elsewhere. It occurs within Bogs and fens, growing at elevations from 0 to 0 meters. Carex livida is ranked 2A, Plants Presumed Extirpated in California, But More Common Elsewhere.

Notes:
Known in CA only from one collection (in 1866) near Mendocino. Field surveys unsuccessful. Extirpated from CA; Sensitive in ID, and endangered in OR.
