Caulanthus simulans, commonly known as Payson's jewelflower, is a annual herb in the Brassicaceae that is found only in California. It occurs within Chaparral, and Coastal scrub, growing at elevations from 90 to 2200 meters. Notes:
Confused with C. heterophyllus var. pseudosimulans (unpublished), which is more coastal. Some populations threatened by proposed reservoir construction, but many populations occur on public lands (Anza Borrego SP, BLM, and USFS). Also threatened by urbanization, invasive species, grazing, and road construction.
