Taxonomy:
Treated as Potamogeton latifolius in TJM (1993). Differentiated from other Stuckenia spp. in California by its broader leaves with abruptly pointed, long to medium-long tips; uninflated stipule sheaths; 3–3.9 mm long fruits with conspicuous beaks; and axillary (or rarely terminal) inflorescences (Hellquist et al. 2012).
