Arctostaphylos nipumu, commonly known as Nipomo Mesa manzanita, is a perennial evergreen shrub in the Ericaceae that is found only in California. It occurs within Chaparral (maritime, and sandy), growing at elevations from 18 to 155 meters. Arctostaphylos nipumu is ranked 1B.1, Plants Rare, Threatened or Endangered in California and Elsewhere; Seriously threatened in California.

Threats:
Population and habitat severely reduced on Nipomo Mesa, and remaining occurrences seriously threatened by development. Possibly threatened by agriculture, development, disking, improper burning regime, mowing, nonnative plants, road and trail construction or maintenance, and wood cutting or brush clearing. Improperly sourced restoration plantings are a potential threat to the genetic integrity of A. nipumu.
Taxonomy:
Formerly included within A. rudis, which is now only known to occur naturally in SBA Co. Differentiated by bark differences and lack of a basal burl. See key provided in the original description for additional information.
