Carex holmgreniorum, commonly known as Holmgren's sedge, is a perennial rhizomatous herb in the Cyperaceae that is found in California and elsewhere. It occurs within Meadows and seeps, and Playas, growing at elevations from 1275 to 1275 meters. Carex holmgreniorum is ranked 2B.2, Plants Rare, Threatened, or Endangered in California, But More Common Elsewhere; Moderately threatened in California.

Discovered in CA by S. Matson in 2013. Fish Slough occurrence within fenced area of the Fish Slough BLM ACEC.
Threats:
Threatened by hydrological alterations and potentially threatened by wildfire.
Taxonomy:
The name Carex holmgreniorum was first published in 2013 for Great Basin plants assigned to the name C. parryana var. brevisquama, since the epithet brevisquama was already in use at the species level.
